Format: 18 holes,  MAJOR CHANGES THIS YEAR!  We are going to try something new and different with the Innisfail Jr Open for 2019.  The format of the event will be an Adult / Junior partnership event.  Each participating junior will play his or her own golf ball, but will be accompanied in the round by an adult.  Juniors will still qualify for the Tour Championship based on their own individual score, but the Team score will combine the junior's own score with a net Better Ball format in combination with the adult partner. As of March 19, 2019, we are still ironing out the details of the scoring, but we wanted to get this information onto the Tour website now.  With the Alberta Golf Junior Boys and Girls Championships on this week, this is a terrific opprortunity for some younger and less experienced players to get a taste of competition on the Alberta Golf McLennan Ross Junior Tour in a fun and fairly stress-free format.

We are encouraging the juniors to bring along a parent, grandparent, adult family member, or maybe a coach or mentor who got you into golf.  If a junior wants to participate and doesn't have someone in their family or circle of friends who is available to partner with them, the Innisfail club is going to recruit a supply of their club members who will be available to be the junior's partner.

The Course:  Innisfail has 27 holes and we have used different rotations for the tournament each year to keep things fresh.

Yardages: Aspen 9
Black 3,334  Blue 3,131  White 2,884  Gold 2,497
Hazelwood 9
Black 3,380  Blue 3,170  White 2,980  Gold 2.703
Spruce 9
Black 3,271 Blue 3,087  White 2,900  Gold 2,548

Par is 36 on all 3 Nine’s

Key Hole: The signature hole is what used to be #15, a devilish downhill, dogleg left par 4 of 362 yards. The green sits out on a peninsula surrounded by water and bulrushes, and the tee shot must navigate deep bush on the right side, and a lateral water hazard on the left. Great short par 4!

How to find the course and travel times: The town of Innisfail is about 30 km. south of Red Deer on Hwy. 2. Drive west through town, staying on the main business street, and the golf course is on the northwest edge of town.

Code of Conduct

The McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour takes great pride in the quality of its competitors, its host facilities, and the support provided by our Corporate Partners. The efforts of the administrative staff and the volunteers that go into making the Tour so successful demand a very high standard of behavior and decorum from the competitors. We have therefore developed a formal Code of Coduct modeled on that of Alberta Golf that provides a set of guidelines for the young men and women that wish to compete in McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour events.
