Noah "Hackett's" It Around in Innisfail

Jul 04, 2017

Noah Hackett of Ponoka (See picture attached) had a steady 6-over par 76 today under sunny skies and battling a stiff breeze at the Innisfail Junior Open, today's stop on the McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour, Presented by Crowe MacKay. Hackett's round was two shots clear of Jackson Squires of Pheasantback and Chase Bodoano of Broadmoor, as the players on hand tackled arguably the toughest track on the Tour. The slick greens and narrow fairways of the central Alberta Innisfail layout always give the kids fits, and today was no exception. Full results will be on the Tour website by 9:30 pm this evening. Innisfail, Drayton Valley on Tour This Week!

Jul 02, 2017

Two events are on this week's Tour schedule. Tuesday, July 4th we are in Innisfail for an 11 a.m. crossover tee times start. Check with the club for your exact tee time for what is always one of the most challenging layouts on the Tour schedule. This Thursday, July 6th, we have the weather-delayed Drayton Valley Junior Open, which was re-scheduled after inclement weather postponed their original date in late May. With the top Alberta juniors occupied this week at the Alberta Golf Junior Championships at Coal Creek Golf Resort, this is a great opportunity for those kids who didn't qualify for provincials to get some valuable tournament experience with a great chance to qualify for the Tour Championship. Drayton's event is a 10 a.m. shotgun start. Entries are still open today for both events.

Fantastic Finish in Barrhead!

Jun 29, 2017

Ethan de Graaf of the Royal Mayfair rolled in an 8-footer for eagle-3 on the first hole of a sudden death playoff with Nicholas Mah of Glendale to capture the Barrhead Junior Open this afternoon on the waterlogged layout an hour northwest of Edmonton. de Graaf, a member of Team Alberta's junior development squad, went on a back 9 birdie blitz to overtake Mah as each player tied with 3-under par 69s over the 18 holes of regulation play, before de Graaf put the pedal to the metal in overtime. Brooke Brezovski of Sturgeon Valley took the honours in the junior girls' division. Full results will be on the Toue website by 10:30 pm this evening. More »

Whitecourt Tournament Re-scheduled!

Jun 27, 2017

With the weather forecast for tomorrow being lousy, and the fact that the local kids in Whitecourt are still wrapping up final exams tomorrow, we have decided that our best course of action is to re-schedule the Whitecourt tournament later in the summer. We have now scheduled their event for Monday, July 17th in the slot that has usually been occupied by the Ponoka Junior Open. Ponoka GC is hosting the Sun Life Financial Alberta Men's Amateur that week, so that freed up July 17th, which is a good thing for us! I hope the weather will be better in mid-July than it appears it will be tomorrow. Our apologies for this inconvenience, and our thanks to Whitecourt GCC for their cooperation. The players who have entered the Whitecourt event will receive a phone call today from the club advising them of the schedule change.
