Cho Wins FIrst Tour Event; Nicholson Goes Back-to-Back in Stony Plain

Aug 08, 2016

Grace Cho of Lewis Estates made her first-ever start in a McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour event very worthwhile, firing a fine 4-over par 76 to capture the junior girls' division today at the Stony Plain Junior Open. Edmonton Country Club's Kaiden Nicholson remained the hottest player on the Tour by taking his second consecutive Tour stop and third of the year by shooting a 1-under par 71 to nip Ethan de Graaf and Dylan Moes by one shot. Full results will be on the Tour website by 11 p.m. this evening.

Nicholson Runs Down Steinbring

Aug 05, 2016

When golfers say a 5-shot lead isn't insurmountable with 18 holes of golf left to play, they're often right. Getting and holding a big lead isn't always easy, and today was ample proof. Yesterday, Ty Steinbring of Barrhead surged to a 5-shot lead over Kaiden Nicholson of Edmonton CC on the strength of his outstanding 2-under par 69, but today Nicholson more than turned the tables. The Edmonton youngster fired a steady even-par 71 to post a 36-hole score of 3-over 145, and when Steinbring struggled on the front nine today, his entire lead was gone by the eleventh hole. Nicholson played solid golf to the house and won by 2 shots. Full results will be on the Tour website by 7:30 p.m. this evening.

Day One at Goose Hummock Complete

Aug 04, 2016

Day One of the Goose Hummock Junior Open is now in the books. I don't have complete results, but Barrhead's Ty Steinbring is going to sleep tonight with a 5-shot lead over Kaiden Nicholson of the Edmonton CC. Steinbring fired a terrific 2-under par 69 this afternoon under warm, sunny skies at "The Goose", while Nicholson is 5 shots in arrears after his 74. Full results will be online tomorrow after the completion of the 2nd round of the 36-hole event. The Tour's Twitter feed will be updated throughout the day on Friday.

Tour Championship Entries Now Open!

Aug 02, 2016

All the competitors who have qualified for the 2016 Tour Championship up to and including the tournament in Strathmore have now been emailed their Confirmation Letter with detailed information about the Tour Championship. Over the course of the summer, we have had a few players get away from their qualifying site without providing me the appropriate contact information, and we have also had a few emails bounce back to me this morning after all the players were notified. If you have qualified for the Tour Championship and have NOT received your Confirmation Letter, please phone or email me so that we can get the information out to you as quickly as possible......Dunc Mills, Tour Executive Director

After a weekend at the Glendale GCC in Edmonton helping out with the Mackenzie Tour event there, we finally found time this morning to update the Srixon Order of Merit standings up to and including last Thursday's tour event in Strathmore. Only one change at the top of an age group (Bergheim) but several new faces in the Top Ten in each division. Click on the Order of Merit link on the Home Page to see the updates.

The McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour takes great pride in the quality of its competitors, its host facilities, and the support provided by our Corporate Partners.
