Nick All-Der-Wey and Shamaine Rapture-sura Are Tour Champions!

Aug 31, 2015

It's all over for another year. The 20th annual Tour Championship went off today under warm, sunny skies with 122 of the best junior golfers from across the province in attendance. When the last card was turned in, form held as pre-tournament favorite Nick Vandermey of the Links at Spruce Grove continued his excellent recent form, firing an outstanding 1-under par 69 to take home the McLennan Ross Junior Tour Championship in his last junior golf event. Vandermey, who won the Edmonton City Men's Amateur championship two weeks ago, and fired arguably the best round of the Tour season with his 3-under par winning score of 70 at Black Bull, was 4 shots clear of rising star Ethan Choi, 13, of Pincher Creek. Choi won the 2015 Alberta Golf Bantam Championship at Goose Hummock Golf Resort a couple of weeks ago and looks ready to be the player to beat in Alberta Golf in coming years. In the junior girls' division, Kenna Hughes of Willow Park was looking to become the first 3-time girls' Tour Champion, but couldn't quite achieve that goal, finishing T3 with an 81, 6 shots behind Sharmaine Rapisura of Inglewood GC in Calgary. Rapisura had an outstanding summer of her own, finishing T4 at the Alberta Golf Junior Girls championship earlier this summer in Lethbridge and representing Alberta at the prestigious Junior America Cup championship in Wyoming. Madison Willan, 14, who plays in the outstanding junior program at the Derrick Golf & Winter Club, finished solo 2nd with an 80. More »

Srixon Order of Merit Final Regular Season Standings

Aug 27, 2015

The 2015 Srixon Order of Merit standings have been updated to include the results from today's tournament at Blackhawk. While there were some tweaks in the Top Ten in each age division, the major changes after today's play were that Sam Hamelin of Pheasantback and Nicholas Mah of Glendale have clinched their respective boys' age groups with only the Tour Championship to go. In fact, three of the four groups have been decided as Kaitlyn Wingnean of the Derrick is also more than 200 points ahead of her nearest pursuer. The only division still up for grabs is for the boys born in 1996-98 with Dakota Smith holding a narrow 30-point lead over Nick Vandermey. No other players in that age group are in contention for the overall Order of Merit title.

Hamelin and Leidenius Tops at Blackhawk

Aug 27, 2015

The 2015 McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour regular season came to a spectacular conclusion today at Blackhawk GC in Edmonton's southwest corner. Ranked in the top 25 in Canada, Blackhawk was a fabulous treat for 75 junior golfers from across the province today and Sam Hamelin of Pheasantback and Wolf Creek's Daria Leidenius showed the way to the other juniors on hand this morning under ideal scoring conditions. Hamelin's even-par 71 nipped Nick Vandermey of the Links at Spruce Grove by a single shot and Leidenius edged her twin sister Shaye by 3 strokes with a fine 76. The only event remaining on the 2015 schedule is the Tour Championship coming up on Monday, August 31 at Wolf Creek. Full results will be on the Tour website by 5:30 p.m. this evening.
