Innisfail, Lacombe Next Up on Tour

Jul 03, 2015

Next week has two of the Tour's original charter sites on back to back days. Innisfail is scheduled for Tuesday, July 7th with Lacombe the following day on Wednesday, July 8th. Both courses are in outstanding condition but present quite different challenges. The Innisfail event on Tuesday will be a crossover start with tee times beginning at 11 a.m. on the Spruce and Aspen 9s. Entries will be held open until 5 p.m. on Monday, July 6th and you can phone the pro shop that evening to get your tee time for Tuesday. The Jordan Brand Memorial Junior Open in Lacombe on Wednesday is a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Both are excellent courses and promise to be a terrific challenge for the competitors. Get some pals and enter today!

Keaveny, Martens and the Weather Hot in Barrhead

Jul 02, 2015

Conor Keaveny of Gilwood GC in Slave Lake and Katie Martens of the Windermere GCC came away with top honours today at the beautifully groomed Barrhead GCC for today's stop on the Tour. Keaveny, 16, and Ethan deGraaf of Royal Mayfair had tied with 2-over par 74s under crystal clear skies and light breezes, requiring the Tour's first sudden death playoff of the 2015 season. Keaveny's bogie 6 on the first playoff hole ended up being good for his first Tour win while Martens fired a 91 to take the Junior Girls' division. Full results will be on the website by 8 p.m. this evening.

Last Call for Barrhead!

Jul 01, 2015

Happy Canada Day, everyone! Entries are still open until 5 pm today for tomorrow's Barrhead Junior Open, so if you have any plans to enter and haven't yet done so, please give the course a call today. The course is always in great condition and promises to be a good start to the busy July and August Tour schedule.

Barrhead Coming Up This Thursday!

Jun 29, 2015

Now that the kids are out of school, the Tour starts to warm up along with the weather. Only one event this week, and that is on Thursday, July 2 at the always immaculately groomed Barrhead GC. For those of you who haven't ever played Barrhead, it's a wonderful course, about an hour NW of Edmonton so it's within easy access. Thursday's event is a 9 a.m. shotgun start. I know many players are in Lethbridge this week for the Alberta Junior Boys and Girls Championships, but Barrhead still promises to be a very good test for those players who missed qualifying for provincials.

SCHEDULE CHANGE!! Blackhawk Moves to August 27th

Jun 29, 2015

We have a schedule change to announce. The Blackhawk event, previously scheduled for Tuesday, August 25th, has been moved to Thursday, August 27th so as to not conflict with the Edmonton Junior Golf Assn. City Junior Championship, which is set for Aug. 24 and 25 at the Glendale GCC in Edmonton. This schedule change will allow juniors the opportunity to compete at both of these outstanding golf courses without having to choose which event in which to compete. We wish to thank the ownership and staff at Blackhawk GC for their willingness to do what's best for junior golf in general by accommodating this schedule change.

Code of Conduct

The McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour takes great pride in the quality of its competitors, its host facilities, and the support provided by our Corporate Partners. The efforts of the administrative staff and the volunteers that go into making the Tour so successful demand a very high standard of behavior and decorum from the competitors. We have therefore developed a formal Code of Coduct modeled on that of Alberta Golf that provides a set of guidelines for the young men and women that wish to compete in McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour events.
