Aug 11, 2014

With arguably the strongest field of the year on hand today at the Stony Plain Jr Open, 2013 Tour Champion and 2014 Alberta Golf Willingdon Cup member AJ Armstrong still had to be considered the pre-tournament favorite. Form held as AJ fired a 7-birdie, 1-bogey 66, three shots clear of Andrew Harrison of Camrose and the host club's Justin Berget. Alicia Easthope of Sandpiper captured the girls' division with an 82, one shot ahead of Windermere's Rayna Oosterhuis. Full results will be on the website by 9:45 p.m. this evening.

Armstrong, Harrison Confirmed for Stony Plain

Aug 08, 2014

In the 19-year history of the Tour, we have never had a current Willingdon Cup player compete in a Tour event, but that seems ready to change on Monday at Stony Plain. Defending Tour Champion AJ Armstrong of Royal Mayfair was part of a history-making triumvirate of three Alberta juniors who swept the 2014 Alberta Golf Willingdon Cup berths for the Canadian Amateur Championship two weeks ago. Turcotte, Tyler Saunders of Glendale, ( two-time Tour Champion) and Jack Wood of Banff made this historic sweep, and AJ plans to enter Stony Plain on Monday in order to try to qualify to defend his Tour Championship. We also learned tonight that Andrew Harrison of Camrose, the 2013 Golf Canada Canadian Juvenile Champion, will make his first start of the 2014 Tour season on Monday. If you want to see where your game stacks up against these two top Alberta Juniors, get your entry in for Stony Plain NOW!!!!
