We're SMMMMMMOKKKKIIINN" in Wetaskiwin!

Jul 16, 2014

Smoke in the air,,smokin' hot temperatures for the third day in a row....smokin' hot play by some of the players, and a smokin' hot meal to cap the day! Another successful McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour event today at Montgomery Glen GC in Wetaskiwin as juniors from as far north as Peace River and south to Calgary competed in one of the longest-standing events on the Tour. Sikander Kaleka of Stony Plain, winner of the 2013 Srixon Order of Merit in his age group, bagged his first, and undoubtedly not last, Tour win today with an even-par 72, three shots clear of Logan Hill of Red Deer. Clare McMahon continued her smokin' hot play (there's that theme again!) with her another win, firing an 80 to pip ( it IS British Open Week, let's go Euro) Kassidy Turcotte of High Prairie by a solitary stroke. Full results will be on the website by 8:30 p.m. this evening.

Golf Without Borders; Creaser Wins First of the Year

Jul 15, 2014

We had our first 'international' winner of the year on Tour today at the Whitetail Crossing Junior Open at the Puddicombe-designed Whitetail Crossing GC in Mundare. Clayton Borders of Meridian, Idaho fired a fine even-par 72 today to tame the brutal fescue and slick greens of Whitetail Crossing. Borders, who is visiting friends in Bonnyville, edged Mitch Lukasewich of the Edmonton Petroleum Club by 3 shots, with Zack Thys of The Links at Spruce Grove another shot back in solo third on 76. Emily Creaser of the Derrick won her first event of the season with an 80 as we had a season-high 13 junior girls on hand. Full results will be on the website by 7:30 p.m. this evening.
