Harrison and Wingnean Battle the Weather in Camrose

Jul 16, 2015

I suppose this result was fairly predictable! Two weeks ago, Andrew Harrison of the host Camrose GC crushed the competition in the Alberta Golf Junior Boys Championship at Henderson Lake in Lethbridge, finishing 9-under par for 72 holes and a mere 13 shots ahead of his nearest competitor. So when Andrew dropped by today on the 5th anniversary of his first Tour win at age 13 when he shot 71 in this event, in horse racing terms, he paid $2.10, $2.10, and $2.10. Andrew's 2-under par 68 was three shots clear of runner-up Nick Vandermey of the Links at Spruce Grove. We had a nice turnout of ten junior girls on hand today, including some very promising fresh faces. Kaitlyn Wingnean of the Derrick bagged her first Tour win with a nifty 85 ( about one stroke per pound of her body weight), no easy task in the cool, windy conditions. Alyshia Suleman of the Royal Mayfair was two strokes in the rear view mirror with an 87. Full results will be on the website by 8:30 p.m. this evening.

Tour Alums Dominate Leaderboard in Sun Life Financial Ladies Amateur

Jul 15, 2015

The 2015 Sun Life Financial Alberta Golf Ladies Championship heads into the final round of the 54-hole championship tomorrow at Calgary's Lynx Ridge GC. The leaderboard is dominated by former McLennan Ross Junior Tour grads, including previous Tour Champion Jennifer Ha of Glencoe GC in first place with rounds of 72-66, 4-under par for 36 holes. Ha holds a narrow 1-stroke lead over Sabrine Garrison of Country Hills (73-66) as the tournament winds up on Thursday. Other prominent players on the leaderboard who played extensively on the Tour as juniors include Sydney McDonald of Fox Hollow in 3rd, another former Tour Champion Jaclyn Lee of Glencoe in 4th, and Devon Spriddle of Henderson Lake in 5th. We even have a couple of 'old-timers' on the first page of the leaderboard in Meaghan LeBlanc of Bearspaw (T6) and Jocelyn Alford of Earl Grey (T8). It is nice to see all these young women doing well in Alberta Golf competition.

Code of Conduct

The McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour takes great pride in the quality of its competitors, its host facilities, and the support provided by our Corporate Partners. The efforts of the administrative staff and the volunteers that go into making the Tour so successful demand a very high standard of behavior and decorum from the competitors. We have therefore developed a formal Code of Coduct modeled on that of Alberta Golf that provides a set of guidelines for the young men and women that wish to compete in McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour events.
