Jun 30, 2014

Just got off the phone with the Lacombe and Barrhead courses about their Junior Opens on this week. Both clubs report lots of entries over the weekend, but still room at both sites for players. With the Alberta Golf Junior Boys and Girls championships coming up next week in Calgary, these tournaments are excellent competitive warmups for those events, plus good competition for anyone not going to Bearspaw next week. Enter today to make sure you get a spot in Lacombe and Barrhead.

Two events highlight next week's Tour schedule as the 2014 season gets into full swing. Lacombe hosts on Wednesday, July 2 followed by Barrhead on Thursday, July 3. Ritchot, Spriddle Best at Henderson Lake

Jun 23, 2014

Team Alberta member Matt Ritchot and Southern Mississippi college player Devon Spriddle were the boys and girls winners respectively at the waterlogged Henderson Lake Junior Open over the weekend in Lethbridge. Ritchot fired a fine 2-under par 68 on Sunday to pull away from the pack after Saturday's first round of the 36-hole tournament. Ritchot's 2-round total of 144 ended up 10 shots clear of runners-up Jeff Masse of the Lethbridge CC and Ethan Choi of Pincher Creek. Spriddle, who has just wrapped up her first year on the women's golf team at the University of Southern Mississippi, cruised her way around her home course with rounds of 77-71. I got home from Lethbridge last night about 1 am, so just now getting started on the website update. Complete results will be online by 10:30 a.m. today.

Round One Complete at Henderson Lake

Jun 22, 2014

One round is in the books at the Henderson Lake Junior Open. The course was wet in spots but surprisingly very dry overall considering the huge amount of rain in the Lethbridge area this week. Full results will be on the website on Monday morning after I drive back to Edmonton tonight after the conclusion of the round. First tee time today is at noon.

Henderson Lake Tourney is ON!!!

Jun 19, 2014

We confirmed earlier today that the Henderson Lake Junior Open scheduled for this Saturday and Sunday is a 'go'! Head Pro Paul Lowe said that the grounds crew is pumping water off the course 'round the clock and with the forecast good for the next few days, the course should be in great shape by the first tee time on Saturday at 1 p.m. This 36-hole event is very well run by Mr. Lowe and his committee and will be a terrific tuneup for upcoming Alberta Golf Junior tournaments. Entries are still open, so phone the course first thing on Friday to enter if you have not yet done so. See you Saturday!
