Duffin and Hartzler are Champions in Lacombe

Aug 02, 2017

Cam Duffin from the Red Deer GCC took his first McLennan Ross Junior Tour title today in a 3-way sudden-victory playoff, making par on the first extra hole to defeat Tyler Watt of Innisfail and Arthur Deng of The Winston GC in Calgary. All three shot rounds of 3-over par 74 over the beautifully conditioned Lacombe layout. We had a one-hour delay due to fog hovering over the golf course (see the attached picture taken at 9 am), but once it lifted, it was a gorgeous morning for a junior golf tournament. In the junior girls' division, Abi Hartzler of Carstairs also captured her first Tour win, shooting a 79 that was two shots clear of Brooke Brezovski of Sturgeon Valley. After a short break to get some supper, we will get the full results up on the website by around 8:30 p.m. this evening. More »

Noskiye, Johnston "Smoke 'Em" in Canmore

Jul 31, 2017

With smoke from BC's wild fires obscuring the towering Three Sisters Mountains overlooking the golf course in Canmore, Austin Noskiye of the Links at Spruce Grove and Carly Johnston of the Edmonton Petroleum Club came out on top today at the Canmore Junior Open. Noskiye fired a steady 1-over par 72 for a one shot margin of victory over Richard Dou of Canyon Meadows, while Johnston's fine 74 was six shots clear of Hunter Schmidt of Dinosaur Trail GC in Drumheller in the junior girls' division. We are having technical problems with the Tour website tonight, kids, so the full results may not get online until some time on Tuesday. Sorry about that! OMG - STOP THE PRESSES!!! 11:47 p.m. Monday night,,,it worked!!! Got the results online. Off to bed. ZZZZZZZZZ....thanks for your patience,,,,Dunc

It's All Greek To Me - Strathmore Winners

Jul 27, 2017

It was a scorcher today in Strathmore for their Junior Open, as temperatures hit 33C by the conclusion of play. Elias Theodossopoulos of the Glencoe made his first start of the season on the McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour, Presented by Crowe Mackay, and made the most of his day, firing a fine 1-over par 73 to edge Richard Dou of Canyon Meadows by a single shot. Chelsea Joseph of Lethbridge CC was the only girl on hand this morning, but had a nice round of 83 just the same. Full results are now online, along with a picture of Chelsea Jospeh and Elias Theodossopoulos, which is sideways and I have NO idea why! More »
