WILD Finish at The Wolf! Nicolls and Hughes are 2014 Tour Champions

Aug 25, 2014

What a sensational finish to the 2014 McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour season! Jared Nicolls of Wolf Creek trailed defending Tour Champion and pre-event favorite AJ Armstrong of Royal Mayfair by 2 shots with 3 holes to play, but Jared erased that deficit with a hole-in-one on the 7th hole on the West 9, his 16th of the day. Tied playing the notoriously difficult 9th hole to wrap up their round, Nicolls then made a 65-foot bomb for birdie to stun AJ, who looked poised for the win with a 7-foot birdie putt of his own. The golf gods are cruel, and when AJ missed his putt, Nicolls was the new Tour Champion. On the girls' side, defending Tour Champion Kenna Hughes of Willow Park went back-to-back, firing a 78 in the swirling winds and lightning fast greens to nose out Jaclyn Lee of the Glencoe and 13-year-old Annabelle Ackroyd of Silver Springs by a shot. Fantastic finishes! Full results from each flight are now online on Tuesday morning.

Andrew Harrison Wins Playoff at Black Bull

Aug 21, 2014

We have always maintained that Black Bull is arguably the toughest course on the McLennan Ross Junior Tour, and today nothing was done to disprove that claim. Andrew Harrison of Camrose won the Black Bull Junior Open on the 1st hole of sudden death over Nick Vandermey of Lewis Estates, after both players tied with 3-over par 76s. Full results will be on the Tour website by 9:00 p.m. this evening

Order of Merit Updated Thru McKenzie Meadows

Aug 19, 2014

The Srixon Order of Merit has been updated to include yesterday's results at McKenzie Meadows. Some minor changes in the Top Ten in a couple of categories, but largely unchanged with only one regular season event left on the 2014 Schedule on Thursday at Black Bull. Boys born in 1995-97 - Peter Slade remains in the lead. Top 8 players mathematically alive for 1st place. Boys born in 1998-99 - Korbin Allan still leads with top 5 players in contention for 1st place. Boys born in 2000 and later - Justin Pasitney still leads, but Sam Hamelin picked up 100 pts yesterday and if he enters Black Bull and picks up at least 40 points there, he could overtake Pasitney with a win at Wolf Creek. Ethan deGraaf also in contention. Girls - Clare McMahon still has a big lead. Unless Alicia Easthope plays at Black Bull and wins and McMahon is shut out there, McMahon will have a lock going into Wolf Creek.
