Jennifer Ha Wins 2nd Tournament of the Fall

Oct 04, 2013

Jennifer Ha of Calgary, who won the 2011 Tour Championship, is having a great fall season competing for the Kent State Golden Flashes women's golf team. Ha is two-for-two at tournaments on the Flashes' fall schedule, having captured events in Minnesota two weeks ago, and last week at an event hosted by Penn State University. She was named the Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week for her 4-under par 212 total that captured the Penn State event by four strokes. Ha and her Kent State teammates are in Norman OK this weekend for their final tournament of the fall schedule. Good luck to Jennifer and the rest of the Kent State team.

Year End Wrap Up

Aug 31, 2013

It has been a whirlwind week since the Tour Championship on Monday. I have been in Calgary the last couple of days checking out The Champions Tour event at Canyon Meadows, but came back to Edmonton today for my mom's 92nd birthday. She got me started in golf when I was 11, and was a pretty good player herself back in the day, so Happy Birthday, Mom! I have updated the Srixon Order of Merit standings with the Top 20 in each age group after the conclusion of the Tour Championship. Here are some comments and observations from the 2013 season..... Playoffs,,,,You're talking about PLAYOFFS???

Aug 26, 2013

With apologies to Jim Mora, it was another sudden victory playoff today in the 18th annual McLennan Ross Sun Junior Tour Championship. It's becoming a habit, and while today's overtime was maybe anything but a classic, it was a nonetheless a very nice win for AJ Armstrong of Royal Mayfair over Drayton Valley's Matt McCourt. Both players had shot even-par 70 in breezy conditions on a tough Wolf Creek Golf Resort setup. Matthew Ritchot of Lethbridge and Andrew Harrison of Camrose, the 2013 Golf Canada Juvenile Champion, tied for 3rd on 72. In the Junior Girls' division, Kenna Hughes of Willow Park cruised to a 5-shot win over Glencoe's Claire Emery and Sharmaine Rapisura of Inglewood. Hughes fired a 79 to Emery's and Rapisura's 84s. Full results will be on the website Tuesday morning.

The last 'regular season' Tour event of the summer was held this morning in Ponoka, wrapping up the 18th season of the McLennan Ross Sun Junior Tour, Presented by Mackay.ca. Now we get ready for the Tour Championship coming up a week from today at Wolf Creek Golf Resort. Today, Nick Vandermey of Lewis Estates fired a fine 3-under par 69 to pip the host club's Jared Nichols by a single shot, with Emily Creaser of the Derrick getting the best of the girls' flight with an 82. After some supper, I hope to have full results on the website by 9:30 p.m. this evening.
