Rain and Storms! Grande Prairie shortened, Whitecourt re-scheduled!

Jul 24, 2012

The first round of the Grande Prairie Jr Open was rained out yesterday after heavy rains and lightning made the GP course unplayable and unsafe for the kids. We have shortened the event to 18 holes with the Long Drive contest set for 9 am today and first tee times at 10:00. Hope it stays dry! Also, we just got a phone call from the Whitecourt course. They had a wicked storm overnight, with upwards of 50 trees blown over and the course looks like a bomb hit it! They will be closed for at least two days, so we have re-scheduled their Junior Open to Tuesday, August 14. Sorry about that kids, but we can't fight Mother Nature!

While we certainly appreciate the interest from players wanting to compete, we ask that these parents and kids please read the Frequently Asked Questions section (FAQ). The FAQ section explains in detail how the Tour works. Tournament entries are handled by the individual courses, not me,,,thanks....Dunc Mills

Off to Grande Prairie!

Jul 21, 2012

Due to scheduling conflicts, I haven't been up north in several years to the Grande Prairie Jr Open at the Grande Prairie G&CC, one of Alberta's top courses. I am very much looking forward to getting back to GP this week. They have tee times starting at 10 a.m. on both Monday and Tuesday. They MAY have already closed off entries as of Friday evening, but if you would still like to get in, please phone the golf club TODAY to see if you can still get in.

Record Breaking Day In Camrose!

Jul 19, 2012

Andrew Harrison of Camrose, 15, is one of Alberta Junior golf's up-and-coming young players and he had the round of his young life today in the Camrose Junior Open, the latest stop on the Tour. Andrew shot a brilliant 4-under par 67 that featured a 6-birdie, 5-under par 31 on the back 9!!! The bad news for Andrew was that he finished SECOND in the tournament! Tyler Saunders went where no junior golfer in the 16+ years of the McLennan Ross Sun Junior Tour has gone before by shooting a mind-boggling 29 on his incoming 9, for a sensational 65, low round on the Tour this year. Full results and the story behind today's fantastic shotmaking will be on the website by 6 p.m. tonight.

Code of Conduct

The McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour takes great pride in the quality of its competitors, its host facilities, and the support provided by our Corporate Partners. The efforts of the administrative staff and the volunteers that go into making the Tour so successful demand a very high standard of behavior and decorum from the competitors. We have therefore developed a formal Code of Coduct modeled on that of Alberta Golf that provides a set of guidelines for the young men and women that wish to compete in McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour events.
