Carstairs, Lacombe now Complete

Jul 10, 2013

The Carstairs and Lacombe tournaments are now in the books. The Pruss brothers from Red Deer swept the events on the boys' side, with Allan besting the field in Carstairs yesterday with a 75, and brother Michael going him one better today with a 74 in Lacombe. Clare Emery of Glencoe topped a season-high field of 14 girls yesterday in Carstairs with an 86, and Innisfail's Courtney Dickson earned her second Tour win in a week with her victory today in Lacombe with a 95 under hot sunny skies. Full results will be on the website by 9 p.m. this evening for both tournaments.

Pine Hills Cancelled; Carstairs and Lacombe Up Next

Jul 06, 2013

We are disappointed to report that we have cancelled the Pine Hills Tour event scheduled for Monday, July 8th in Rocky Mountain House. With less than 20 entries so far, we just couldn't wait any longer to make a decision on this as many players need to make travel plans for Monday. We know that this has been a busy week with the Alberta Junior Boys and Girls Championships on and a Golf Canada Future Links event coming up next week, but hopefully this wasn't a case of just a lot of kids leaving things to the last minute to decide to make a commitment to a tournament. For those players who had entered Pine Hills, we thank you for your support of that event, and we encourage any players who still want to compete in some good tournaments next week to enter either or both of Carstairs on Tuesday, July 9th (1:30 pm tee times) or Lacombe on Wednesday, July 10th ( 9 am shotgun start. We still have many excellent tournaments coming up the rest of the summer on the Tour and look for good fields at all of our remaining events.

Di Pinto is Di Winner!

Jul 04, 2013

Sam Di Pinto of Belvedere fired a 75 today in a steady drizzle at the beautifully conditioned Barrhead GC to capture his first Tour win. Graeme Purdy of Derrick and Chad McCartney of Edson tied for 2nd, two shots back on 77. Talk about a contrast from the scorcher two days ago in Innisfail as players were subjected to a cold, steady rain for much of the day. Full results will be on the website by 6:00 p.m. this evening.

McKenzie Meadows Event Cancelled; Other Flood Updates

Jul 03, 2013

Now that the recovery and cleanup efforts in the Calgary and southern Alberta area are underway, we have contacted all the courses on the Tour whose courses might have been affected by the recent flooding. The Turner Valley event on July 22 and Canmore's tournament on July 29th are both good to go! The only problem with Turner Valley's event is that you cannot get into Black Diamond from the Turner Valley side of the river. Players will have to get to the golf course through Black Diamond. However, the McKenzie Meadows GC suffered severe flooding and will be closed entirely until at least August 1st. Given the uncertainly of the availability of their course, Head Professional Richard Hardy has requested that their tournament take a leave of absence from the Tour for this year as they focus their efforts on getting their golf course back in playable condition. This is certainly understandable and we look forward to returning to McKenzie Meadows in the 2014 Tour schedule.

Philipp and Dickson Endure a Scorcher in Innisfail

Jul 02, 2013

That was ONE hot ,steamy day! The temperature topped out at 32C with a Humidex factor of 41C, so needless to say it was tough slugging on the gorgeous, but hilly Innisfail golf course for 50 juniors from as far away as Fort McMurray, Edmonton and Calgary. Alex Philipp of Montgomery Glen GC in Wetaskiwin was best today with an 81 in the intense heat and suffocating humidity, one shot clear of Allen Pruss of River Bend GC in Red Deer. Theo Olver of Three Hills and Brandon Maxwell of Pine Hills GC in Rocky Mountain House were tied for third on 83. In the junior girls' division, Courtney Dickson of the host club was low with an 86. I'm now going to go stand in a cool shower for about an hour and cool off from one of the hottest days on a golf course in memory. Full results on the website in the morning.....Out. Wednesday, July 3 - 10:30 am - Full Results now on the website.

Code of Conduct

The McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour takes great pride in the quality of its competitors, its host facilities, and the support provided by our Corporate Partners. The efforts of the administrative staff and the volunteers that go into making the Tour so successful demand a very high standard of behavior and decorum from the competitors. We have therefore developed a formal Code of Coduct modeled on that of Alberta Golf that provides a set of guidelines for the young men and women that wish to compete in McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour events.
