First Tour Win for Bryce Melville in Barrhead

Bryce Melville of Cardiff GC near Morinville won his first Tour event today at the immaculately groomed Barrhead GC. Melville fired a steady 1-over par 73 to top a solid field of players from the Edmonton and Central Alberta area. Full results are now online. Fritz, Kowalchuk win at Henderson Lake

Jason Fritz of Picture Butte won the Henderson Lake Junior Open for the 3rd consecutive year today, firing rounds of 73-69 (142) good for a narrow one-shot win over Red Deer's Matt Codd, whose 67 on Sunday was the tournament's low round. Gina Kowalchuk of the host club was very steady with back-to-back 76s, leaving her 6 strokes ahead of her clubmate Devon Spriddle. Full results and the tournament story are now online.

Harrison, Creaser Tops in Drayton Valley

The first event of the 2012 McLennan Ross Sun Junior Golf Tour season is now in the books after a successful Drayton Valley Junior Open today. Tour Alumni in U.S.Open Sectional Qualifying Today

Several former McLennan Ross Sun Junior Tour players are competing today at various sites around the U.S. in USGA Sectional Qualifying for entry into next week's U.S. Open at the Olympic GC in San Francisco. Ryan Yip of Calgary is in Springfield, OH (Notables in his field: Seung-Yul Noh, Eric Axley); Danny Sahl of Sherwood Park is in Creswell, OR (Derek Gillespie, Casey Martin); James Love of Calgary is in Suwanee, GA (Jason Bohn); and Dustin Risdon of Strathmore has perhaps the toughest road in a field on many PGA Tour pros (Stephen Ames, David Duval, Lee Janzen and John Rollins among others ) in Germantown, TN. Other Albertans in Sectional Qualifying today include Wes Heffernan of Calgary in Daly City, CA (James Hahn, Alex Cejka) and Stuart Anderson of Strathmore who is REALLY in tough in Columbus, OH competing against the likes of Rory Sabattini, Davis Love, Spencer Levin and Robert Allenby. Good luck to all these Albertans today!

The McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour takes great pride in the quality of its competitors, its host facilities, and the support provided by our Corporate Partners. The efforts of the administrative staff and the volunteers that go into making the Tour so successful demand a very high standard of behavior and decorum from the competitors. We have therefore developed a formal Code of Coduct modeled on that of Alberta Golf that provides a set of guidelines for the young men and women that wish to compete in McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour events.
