Tour Championship Wild Card Qualifers

Aug 19, 2011

Last year for the first time, we included one qualifier for the Tour Championship from each age category for the player with the most points in the Srixon Order of Merit that did not qualify for the Tour Championship from a specific event. This gives one player in each division a chance to get into the Tour Championship from a collection of 'near misses'. With only one left on the schedule, here are the leaders in each division. McKiernan, Cronkwright Tops Today in Nanton

Aug 18, 2011

The penultimate regular season Tour event was held today in Nanton, as the 2011 Tour season winds down towards our 16th Annual Tour Championship coming up a week from Monday at Wolf Creek. John McKiernan of Calgary Elks fired a fine 3-under par 68 today to crush the field by 7 shots, while Ali Cronkwright of Priddis Greens had a narrow 1-shot win in the junior girls division. I just got back from Nanton ( the Deerfoot was a parking lot through Calgary!) and grabbing something to eat,,,will try to have the full results on the website shortly after 9 pm this evening.....Dunc

Srixon Order of Merit Updated Through Whitecourt

Aug 17, 2011

The Srixon Order of Merit standings have been updated up to and including yesterday's tournament in Whitecourt. With only two regular season events remaining on the 2011 schedule, races are really tightening up in all the divisions and a lot will depend on who makes road trips tomorrow to Nanton and/or Monday to McKenzie Meadows to earn ranking points before the Tour Championship, where points will double in value. The Top Ten and ties are listed in each division. Check out where you stand!

Exciting Playoff Today in Whitecourt

Aug 16, 2011

Another year, another playoff in Whitecourt. At a Tour site that seems to attract playoffs like flies to honey, the Whitecourt Junior Open today lived up to its reputation. With a sparkling new clubhouse overlooking the 18th green and players and spectators eagerly watching, Konrad Turcotte of High Prairie two-putted from 40 feet for par to defeat Josh Gorieu of Stony Plain after each player had navigated the tree-lined Whitecourt fairways in 77 shots. Full results will be on the website by 9:00 p.m. this evening.

Another "Career" in Stony Plain

Aug 15, 2011

In the nearly 16 full years of the McLennan Ross Sun Junior Tour, tens of thousands of rounds of golf have been played by thousands of the best junior golfers in Alberta, but today at Stony Plain, we had what is believed to be the first 9-hole score of 30 posted by a competitor. The fantastic score was turned in by 17-year-old Jordan Brown of Woodside GC in Airdrie, on his way to a brilliant 5-under par 67, low round of the day by four shots over A.J. Armstrong of Sturgeon Valley. Brown was a solid, if unspectacular 1-over par 37 at the turn, but he eagled both par-5s on the back side, threw in two more birdies for good measure, et voila! Thirty. Full results will be on the website by 9:45 p.m. this evening.

Code of Conduct

The McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour takes great pride in the quality of its competitors, its host facilities, and the support provided by our Corporate Partners. The efforts of the administrative staff and the volunteers that go into making the Tour so successful demand a very high standard of behavior and decorum from the competitors. We have therefore developed a formal Code of Coduct modeled on that of Alberta Golf that provides a set of guidelines for the young men and women that wish to compete in McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour events.
