Vandermey Fires Sensational Round at Black Bull

Nick Vandermey of Lewis Estates fired an amazing 2-under par 71 this morning to easily win the Black Bull Junior Open, today's stop on Tour. Black Bull is arguably the most difficult course on the McLennan Ross Sun Junior Golf Tour, and the 52 players on hand today can certainly attest to that! Emily Creaser of the Derrick was the only junior girl on hand today able to break 100 on the challenging Black Bull layout. Full results will be on the website by 8:30 p.m. this evening.

Thomas Takes Playoff in Olds; Hughes Best in Girls Division

Jacob Thomas of the Edmonton CC birdied the first extra hole of a sudden victory playoff today to capture the Olds Junior Open and his first Tour Title. Thomas, 14, and Logan Hill of Red Deer had tied for low gross overall with 77s on the slick Olds greens, but Thomas's 3-footer for birdie on the 1st extra hole took down the championship. Kenna Hughes of Willow Park fired an 83 to come out on top of a field of nine junior girls on hand today. Now to update the website from both today's event and yesterday's tournament in Whitecourt. Martell, Turcotte Win in Whitecourt

Started out raining,,,ended up a lovely albeit overcast afternoon. The once-postponed Whitecourt Jr Open got off to a delayed start this morning after heavy rains, but once we got underway the skies held off for the entire day. Mitch Martell of the host Whitecourt GCC fired an excellent 1-over par 73 today to win his first Tour event and home town tounament. Clubmate Branton Tessier, High Prairie's Konrad Turcotte and Dakota Smith of the Public Player Club tied for third with 76s. Kassidy Turcotte, also of High Prairie was best in the junior girls' division with an 88. Late in Olds already getting prepared for tomorrow's Olds tournament, so I won't get the complete results on the website until tomorrow evening when I get back to Edmonton,,,,I'm heading for bed! ,,,,Dunc

Armstrong, Martens Take Stony Plain by Storm

AJ Armstrong of Sturgeon Valley and Windermere's Erin Martens were best today in the Stony Plain Junior Open, a mainstay on the McLennan Ross Sun Junior Tour for 15 years. Armstrong fired a fine 4-under par 68 to edge Brandon Lyster of Mannville Riverview by a single shot, and Martens shot a steady 80 to best 9 other girls on hand today. Srixon Order of Merit Up to Date Through Country Hills

The Srixon Order of Merit standings have been updated through last week's events at Pinebrook and Country Hills. Some shuffling in the Top Tens and a new leader in the boys' born in 1998 and later category. Click on the Order of Merit link for the Top Ten and ties in each division.

The McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour takes great pride in the quality of its competitors, its host facilities, and the support provided by our Corporate Partners. The efforts of the administrative staff and the volunteers that go into making the Tour so successful demand a very high standard of behavior and decorum from the competitors. We have therefore developed a formal Code of Coduct modeled on that of Alberta Golf that provides a set of guidelines for the young men and women that wish to compete in McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour events.
