Mother Nature Wins in Carstairs; Tournament Rescheduled to July 24

Jul 10, 2018

The closer we got to the scheduled 1:30 start time this afternoon in Carstairs, the worse the weather got. The course was being subjected to a pretty solid rain by 12:30, and by 1:00 the forecast looked like steady rain all afternoon. We weighed our options and decided that the best course of action for all concerned was to wipe out today's tournament and reschedule for two weeks to Tuesday, July 24, also with a 1:30 p.m. shotgun start. COULD we have played?.....probably,,,the course likely could have absorbed the water. SHOULD we have played?....Sending our 40 or so youngsters into a cold, driving rain isn't MY idea of having much fun, and while I realize golf is played outdoors, I just felt our best option was to postpone the event. IMPORTANT!!!! READ THIS!!!!.....If you were registered to play today, and still want to compete on July 24, you do not have to do anything with the Carstairs club. You WILL BE included in the draw for July 24. If you are NOT going to be in attendance on July 24, please notify the Carstairs GC that you are withdrawing. The tournament tomorrow morning at the Olds GC is still a 'go'. See you there.

Grant, Frerichs Best at "The Hipple"

Jul 09, 2018

For 34 years, the Kevin Hipple Memorial Junior Open has been a mainstay of the Calgary and area junior golf scene. Founded by the Pinebrook GCC in memory of a former junior member who passed away far too early in life at age 14, "The Hipple" has a history of delivering an outstanding junior golf experience to thousands of young players over three decades plus. Today, the host club's Zach Grant toured his home layout in a tidy 3-over par 74 to nip up-and-comer Christian Hansen of River's Edge GC in Okotoks by a single shot. Jonathan Vinge, also of Pinebrook, finished solo third on 77. In the junior girls' division, Glencoe's Brooke Frerichs' 87 was tops among five junior girls on hand this morning. Full results from today's tournament will be on the Tour website by 6:30 p.m. this evening

Entries Closed for PInebrook; Carstairs and Olds Still Open

Jul 07, 2018

The Kevin Hipple Memorial Junior Open goes on Monday at Pinebrook GCC in Calgary and the club closed off entries at 4 p.m. on Friday. The draw will be available tomorrow so that you can get your tee time, which begin at 7:30 on Monday. The club has informed me that several juniors phoned late last night and again this morning wanting to get in, and while we understand the kids being disappointed they didn't get in, the fact remains that the club has been accepting entries for weeks, and if you missed the entry deadline, that's unfortunate but life has deadlines. For players looking for other McLennan Ross Tour events this week, we have the Carstairs Junior Open on Tuesday and Olds on Wednesday. As of noon on Saturday, both clubs are still accepting entries, so if you wish to compete in either or both tournament, please phone today to avoid disappointment.

Code of Conduct

The McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour takes great pride in the quality of its competitors, its host facilities, and the support provided by our Corporate Partners. The efforts of the administrative staff and the volunteers that go into making the Tour so successful demand a very high standard of behavior and decorum from the competitors. We have therefore developed a formal Code of Coduct modeled on that of Alberta Golf that provides a set of guidelines for the young men and women that wish to compete in McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour events.
