The 2016 Srixon Order of Merit standings have now been updated up to and including yesterday's tournament in Olds. Hill, Hamelin and Brezovksi continue to lead in their respective divisions, but Cole Bergheim of Red Deer has edged ahead of Goose Hummock's Owen Lai in the age group for boys born in 2002 and later. With four events in four days coming up next week, there will continue to be lots of shuffling in the standings. Check the Order of Merit link for the Top Ten and ties in each division.
What a week! Rain on Monday in Turner Valley. Rain and lightning in Carstairs yesterday that eventually led to the cancellation of the tournament. TWO lightning delays today in Olds, but we eventually got the round in, and Logan Hill of Red Deer continued his outstanding play on Tour this summer, firing a 3-under par 69, low round on the Tour so far this year, to capture the Olds Junior Open. Sydney McInnis of Olds won the junior girls' division, but the big winners were the kids who slugged it out on a very wet and miserable day. More on that later. Full results will be on the Tour website by 10 p.m. tonight.
Mother Nature wins again! We had to bring the players in off the golf course part way through the Carstairs Junior Open today due to lightning in the area. All the players made it to shelter safely, and while we fed the competitors during the weather delay, we were never able to get back out on the golf course, forcing us to cancel the event. We drew scorecards at random to award the prizes and here's hoping things go better this morning in Olds. Thanks to all the players and their families for being so patient and understanding through the delays yesterday.
Justice Stella of the Crowsnest Pass GC earned his first McLennan Ross Junior Tour win today in Turner Valley. Stella,15, overcame some early round showers that gave way to afternoon sunshine to fire a 77, two shots clear of Brandon Murphy of the Mighty Peace GC in Peace River. Murphy won the "Long Distance" award today for sure! Only one junior girl, Brooke Frerichs of Glencoe, was on hand today, as most of the top Alberta juniors are gearing up for the Alberta Golf Junior Championships that being tomorrow at Cottonwood GCC in Calgary. Frerichs is only 11, but judging from her swing, this won't be the last time we hear of this fresh young face in Alberta junior golf circles. Complete results from today's Turner Valley event will be on the Tour website by 6:00 p.m. tonight.

The McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour takes great pride in the quality of its competitors, its host facilities, and the support provided by our Corporate Partners. The efforts of the administrative staff and the volunteers that go into making the Tour so successful demand a very high standard of behavior and decorum from the competitors. We have therefore developed a formal Code of Coduct modeled on that of Alberta Golf that provides a set of guidelines for the young men and women that wish to compete in McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour events.
