Tour Alumni in U.S.Open Sectional Qualifying Today

Several former McLennan Ross Sun Junior Tour players are competing today at various sites around the U.S. in USGA Sectional Qualifying for entry into next week's U.S. Open at the Olympic GC in San Francisco. Ryan Yip of Calgary is in Springfield, OH (Notables in his field: Seung-Yul Noh, Eric Axley); Danny Sahl of Sherwood Park is in Creswell, OR (Derek Gillespie, Casey Martin); James Love of Calgary is in Suwanee, GA (Jason Bohn); and Dustin Risdon of Strathmore has perhaps the toughest road in a field on many PGA Tour pros (Stephen Ames, David Duval, Lee Janzen and John Rollins among others ) in Germantown, TN. Other Albertans in Sectional Qualifying today include Wes Heffernan of Calgary in Daly City, CA (James Hahn, Alex Cejka) and Stuart Anderson of Strathmore who is REALLY in tough in Columbus, OH competing against the likes of Rory Sabattini, Davis Love, Spencer Levin and Robert Allenby. Drayton Valley Entries Now Open!

The first event on the 2012 McLennan Ross Sun Junior Golf Tour is coming up on Saturday, June 9th in Drayton Valley. Head Professional Weston Gillett reports that the course is in great shape and entries are now starting to come in. Entry fee is $50 for their 10 a.m. shotgun start. The annual Media Day to kick off the publicity campaign for the 2012 McLennan Ross Sun Junior Tour season will be held on Tuesday, May 29th at Wolf Creek Golf Resort. Newspaper, TV and radio correspondents from across Alberta will be in attendance, along with some of Alberta's top junior golfers to get information about this year's Tour. More »

2012 Tour Schedule Now Online!

The 2012 McLennan Ross Sun Junior Tour schedule has now been released and is on the website. We have a total of 24 events on the 2012 calendar, highlighted by the 17th Annual Tour Championship at Wolf Creek Golf Resort on Monday, August 27. The Tour kicks off on Saturday, June 9 in Drayton Valley and the regular season concludes on Tuesday, August 21 at the newest Tour site, Coyote Creek Golf and RV Resort in Sundre! Wilson Bateman named #1 Junior in Canada

Wilson Bateman of Blackhawk GC in Edmonton has been named by Golf Canada as the #1 Junior Male Golfer in Canada for the 2011 season. Bateman, 18, still holds the McLennan Ross Sun Junior Tour record as the youngest-ever tournament winner when he captured the Goose Hummock Jr Open at age 11. In the 2011 season, Wilson won two Golf Canada Future Links tournaments, the Alberta Golf Junior Boys Championship, finished 6th in the Golf Canada Junior Boys Championship and 3rd in the Golf Canada Canadian Men's Amateur. Wilson is currently a member of the San Diego State NCAA Div. 1 men's golf team. Great year, Wilson....Congratulations!

The McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour takes great pride in the quality of its competitors, its host facilities, and the support provided by our Corporate Partners. The efforts of the administrative staff and the volunteers that go into making the Tour so successful demand a very high standard of behavior and decorum from the competitors. We have therefore developed a formal Code of Coduct modeled on that of Alberta Golf that provides a set of guidelines for the young men and women that wish to compete in McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour events.
