Trestle Creek Brings a Busy Week to a Close

Aug 10, 2017

Three tournaments in the last three days,,,,,now looking forward to the weekend! Stephen Christenson of the Derrick left it late in the year, but he's now in the field for the Tour Championship coming up on August 28th at Wolf Creek. Christenson fired a steady 1-over par 73 today at Trestle Creek Golf and RV Resort about 45 minutes west of the city, good for a one stroke win at today's McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour stop. Chad McCartney of Edson was only a single shot back in solo second under warm sunny skies in virtually windless conditions. Alyshia Suleman of the Royal Mayfair was low junior girl today with a 95. Full results will be on the Tour website by 8:00 p.m. this evening.

de Graaf, Wingnean Are The Winners at The Pete Club

Aug 09, 2017

Ethan de Graaf of the Royal Mayfair, and the Derrick's Kaitlyn Wingnean took home the hardware today at the Edmonton Petroleum Club's Junior Open, today's stop on the McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour, Presented by Crowe MacKay. de Graaf fired a no-bogey, 3-under par 69, good for a five-shot margin over Kaiden Nicholson of the Edmonton Country Club. Wingnean's fine 77 was four strokes ahead of runner-up Brooke Brezovski of Sturgeon Valley as 70 junior golfers from across northern Alberta were treated to a wonderful junior golf experience. Full results will be on the Tour's website by 5:30 p.m.

Trio of Winners Today in Ponoka

Aug 08, 2017

At some McLennan Ross Junior Tour events, all the junior boys play the same set of tees, and at others, such as today in Ponoka, the younger boys born in 2003 and later play a shorter set more in line with their ages and abilities. But every once in a while, a player in the younger age group upsets the apple cart and fires the low round of the day from a shorter set of tees than those played by his older contemporaries. Well, that's what happened today, as Cole Bergheim of Red Deer fired a fine 4-over par 76 from the Blue tees, playing at about 5,600 yards and three older boys tied for low gross at 77 from the longer Silver Tees. Sikander Kaleka of Stony Plain birdied the par-5 1st hole in the sudden-victory playoff in Ponoka to defeat two opponents, but in my mind, both Sikander and Cole have plenty to be proud of. Kaitlyn Wingnean of the Derrick was low junior girl today with an 81 as she continues her drive to win back-to-back Srixon Order of Merit titles. Full results will be on the Tour website by about 7:30 pm this evening.

This Week On Tour

Aug 07, 2017

Three fun and challenging tournaments coming up this week! Tuesday, Aug 8 - Ponoka. About an hour west of the city, the Trestle Creek event is growing in size and stature every year. They do a great job in hosting and the course is one of the toughest on the Tour. 9 am shotgun. ENTER EARLY PLEASE!!! The courses need to know how many players they should plan for. See you on Tour this week!

The McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour takes great pride in the quality of its competitors, its host facilities, and the support provided by our Corporate Partners.
