Glendale Juniors Sweep in Barrhead

Glendale GCC juniors took top honours today in both the junior boys and junior girls divisions at the Barrhead Junior Open, today's stop on the Tour. Barrett Belland and clubmate Ashley Dechant earned their first wins of the season. Despite heavy overnight rains that left the beautifully groomed Barrhead layout in soggy conditions, the course staff had worked tirelessly in the early morning hours to get the course into terrific shape for the 60 juniors on hand. Barrhead is Next Stop on Tour!

After the conclusion of the Henderson Lake Junior Open over the weekend, the next stop on Tour is in Barrhead on Thursday, June 30th. We talked to Head Professional Danny Grant in Barrhead this morning and he tells us, "The course is in phenomenal shape!" Entry fee is only $45 to play one of the Tour's best courses, and will be an excellent tuneup for any junior entered in next week's Alberta Junior Championships. Even if you aren't in the Alberta Junior, don't miss Barrhead! Entries will close on Wednesday, June 29th at 6:00 p.m. Tournament is a 9 a.m. shotgun start on Thursday, but leave adequate time to get to the course in time to register and warm up.

Frtiz and Heyns Repeat at Henderson Lake

Jason Fritz of Henderson Lake and Mieke Heyns of Lethbridge Country Club both successfully defended their 2010 Henerson Lake Junior Open titles on Sunday at the windswept Lethbridge layout. Steady strong winds and frequent rain showers made scoring conditions difficult, which made Fritz' and Heyns' scoring even more impressive. Full results are now online in the Results section.

Hogan's Alley in Drayton Valley

Saturday, June 11, 8:15 p.m -The 2011 McLennan Ross Sun Junior Golf Tour, Presented by, swung back into action today with the Drayton Valley Junior Open. Brett Hogan of Willow Park made the trip up from Calgary well worth his while, as he used today's event as a tune-up for next month's Frank Lindsay Alberta Junior Boys' Championship that will be held on the Drayton Valley course. Hogan fired a steady 2-over par 73 from the tips today, good for his first Tour win of the season. Full results are now online from today's event.

Tour Alum Kylie Barros a National Champion!

Kylie Barros of the University of BC Thunderbirds, today won the Golf Canada University/ College Championship, firing a 72-hole total of 18-over par 306 at the Royal Ashburn GC in Hamilton, ON. Barros, who played in dozens of McLennan Ross Sun Junior Tour events in her junior career, with several wins, finished 9 shots clear of runner-up Anne Balser of the University of Victoria Vikes. Her T-Birds team needed every shot of Kylie's winning margin as their team finished one thin shot ahead of UVic in the final team standings. Congratulations to Kylie and her UBC teammates!

The McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour takes great pride in the quality of its competitors, its host facilities, and the support provided by our Corporate Partners. The efforts of the administrative staff and the volunteers that go into making the Tour so successful demand a very high standard of behavior and decorum from the competitors. We have therefore developed a formal Code of Coduct modeled on that of Alberta Golf that provides a set of guidelines for the young men and women that wish to compete in McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour events.
