Head Professional Mike McEvay of Goose Hummock Golf Resort does a fantasic job of organazing a fun and competitive junior golf event.  What a treat for the kids to enjoy 36 holes of golf over a beautifully conditioned golf course, meals both days, a Horse Race after the first round, and a prize table second to none on the Tour.  Thanks very much to Mike and his team of staff and volunteers at The Goose for a terrific event.

This morning's 8 am start looked in jeopardy on the drive out to the water-lined fairwars of the Goose Hummock course, just north of Gibbons. But the rains held off for the most part for the first hour or so, and by 10 a.m. had stopped completely.  The players were able to get around briskly and in dry conditions.  When play commenced this morning, we had 6 players within 3 shots of overnight leaders Mason Kucy of Camrose and Jarrett Bossert of Belvedere, who had led the way with 74s from Thursday. Bossert matched his first 74 with another one today, and his 36-hole total of 148 was two shots clear of Kucy and Cole Ruelling (76-74) of Lewis Estates.  Ethan Klutke of River Valley Juniors took fourth on rounds of 76-77 (153).

Bossert is shown here (R) with Goose Hummock Head Professional Mike McEvay, accepting congratulations on his win.

The Tour Championship at Wolf Creek Golf Resort is coming up in just over three weeks and players earning spots today  in the field for Wolf Creek  included Josh Robertson of River Ridge (156) from the flight for players born in 1998-2000, Theo Leakos (160) of Glendale from the flight for boys born in 2001/02,  along with  Ryler Bergman of Olds and Ethan Reiter of Sturgeon Valley, who tied for the qualifying spots in the flight for boys born in 2003 and later.  Wild Card qualifiers were Jesse Bratrud (159) of Coal Creek and Josh Salcedo (164) of Jagare Ridge.

Only one junior girl made the trip out to Goose Hummock over the last two days; Alyshia Suleman of the Royal Mayfair. Alyshia had steady rounds of 88-91, but had previously qualified for the Tour Championship anyway.

The Tour takes a breather for the August long weekend, but picks up steam again on Tuesday, August 8th in Ponoka, followed by the Edmonton Petroleum Club on Wednesday, August 9th and the increasingly-popular Trestle Creek tournament on Thursday, August 10th.  Entries are still open for all three of these popular Tour events, but if you ARE planning on competing at any or all of these tournaments, we urge you to phone the clubs in the next 48 hours to register.  This really  helps the host facilities plan their events more effectively.

Q = Qualified for Tour Championship at Wolf Creek Golf Resort on August 28th

WC = Wild Card qualifier for Tour Championship

PQ = Player had previously qualified for Tour Championship.

The players listed in the Results section are those that finished in the Top Six and ties in each age group, thereby earning Srixon Order of Merit ranking points.  This is not a full list of every player who competed in the tournament.

Code of Conduct

The McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour takes great pride in the quality of its competitors, its host facilities, and the support provided by our Corporate Partners. The efforts of the administrative staff and the volunteers that go into making the Tour so successful demand a very high standard of behavior and decorum from the competitors. We have therefore developed a formal Code of Coduct modeled on that of Alberta Golf that provides a set of guidelines for the young men and women that wish to compete in McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour events.
