For a while this morning, it was in doubt as to when or even IF we would be able to tee off at McKenzie Meadows in southeast Calgary for today's Tour stop.  An early morning lightning storm kept the players indoors and delayed the start of the tournament, but once we got going, a light drizzle subsided and by the time the players had completed their rounds, the morning overcast had given way to warm, sunny skies.

Shiv Kaura,16, made the most of his first-ever start on the McLennan Ross Junior Tour as he fired a nearly flawless 3-under par 69 to win the event by six shots over 13-year-old Alex Gerrard of Innisfail.  More on Gerrard later.  Kaura has been living primarily in Qatar and will be returning there to go to school this fall, but he indicated he planned on playing some other Tour events this summer.  Based on his play today, that is bad news for some of the other top players on the Tour!  Kaura made two birdies, one eagle and only one bogey blemished his card

Alex Gerrard of Innisfail was also a nice story today, as the 13-yera-old fired a career-low competitive round of 75 to capture the flight for boys born in 2003 and later and in the process qualify for the season-ending Tour Championship at Wolf Creek Golf Resort. It is always gratifying to see young players like Gerrard push their own personal scoring envelope under the pressure of competition.  Joining Gerrard and Kaura as qualifiers today were Landon Osachuk (77) from the flight for boys born in 1998/99/2000 and Wild Card qualifiers Brayden Provost (82) of Lethbridge CC, Alberta Hoang (79) of Country Hills and Tai Robichaud (81) of Silver Springs.

The Tour swings north tomorrow to Carstairs for a 1:30 p.m. start and follows up on Wednesday in Olds for their 9 a.m.shotgun start.  Entries are still open as of 3 pm today for both events.

Q= Player qualified for Tour Championship at Wolf Creek Golf Resort on August 28.

PQ = Player had previously qualified for Tour Championship

WC = Wild Card qualifier for Tour Championship.

Please note!  The players listed in the Results section are those that finished in the top 6 and ties in each age group to earn Srixon Order of Merit points.  This is not the entire field of competitors.

Code of Conduct

The McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour takes great pride in the quality of its competitors, its host facilities, and the support provided by our Corporate Partners. The efforts of the administrative staff and the volunteers that go into making the Tour so successful demand a very high standard of behavior and decorum from the competitors. We have therefore developed a formal Code of Coduct modeled on that of Alberta Golf that provides a set of guidelines for the young men and women that wish to compete in McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour events.
