Forty-two junior golfers from as far away as Grande Prairie, Wabasca and Calgary dropped in to Montgomery Glen GC in Wetsaskiwin for today's stop on the McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour, Presented by Crowe MacKay. The players were treated to ideal conditions with warm sunny skies without a hint of wind.  At least we THINK it was sunny,,,hard to tell with all the BC wildfire smoke in the air!

Will Holan of Blackhawk GC (2nd from L in the photo) in Edmonton made his first Tour start of the summer well worth his while, as he fired a steady 1-over par 73, two shots clear of Tanner Smith of River Bend GC in Red Deer. Holan had two birdies, but only three bogies, largely staying out of trouble.  "I hit it pretty solid today," remarked the Blackhawk junior. Defending champion Justin Berget of Stony Plain and Mitch Desjarlais of Broadmoor finished T3 with matching 77s.

Qualifiers today for the Tour Championship at Wolf Creek GR on August 28th included Holan, Smith and Deslarlais, along with Ashton Gladue (85) from Eagle Point GC in Wabasca, and Wild Card qualifier Blake Caron (81) from the Edmonton Petroleum Club.

We had a season-high total of six junior girls on hand today, lead by two juniors coming off busy weeks at both the Alberta Golf Junior Girls Championship at Coal Creek GR and the Sun Life Financial Ladies Amateur at the Red Deer GCC.  Kaitlyn Wingnean of the Derrick and Jayla Kucy of Camrose were in both fields, with Kucy finishing 14th at the Junior Girls to Wingnean's 16th.  Wingnean turned the tables in the women's event, finishing a solid 10th, with young Kucy further back in 34th place alongside many of Alberta's best female players who are twice Jayla's age and more.  This morning in Wetaskiwin, Wingnean fired a steady 77 with Kucy three shots back in 2nd with an 80.  As both players had previoulsy qualified for the Tour Championship, today's qualifying spot went to third-place finisher Jenna Sand (87) of Bashaw.

A busy week on Tour winds up tomorrow about 40 km east of Wetaskiwin in Camrose.  Many of today's competitors will be in the field, beginning with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

Q = Player qualified for the Tour Championship at Wolf Creek Golf Resort on August 28th.

Players listed in the Results section are those who finished  in the Top Six and ties in each age group and thereby earning Srixon Order of Merit ranking points.  This is not a list of the results of every competitor.

Code of Conduct

The McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour takes great pride in the quality of its competitors, its host facilities, and the support provided by our Corporate Partners. The efforts of the administrative staff and the volunteers that go into making the Tour so successful demand a very high standard of behavior and decorum from the competitors. We have therefore developed a formal Code of Coduct modeled on that of Alberta Golf that provides a set of guidelines for the young men and women that wish to compete in McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour events.
