The 22nd 'regular season' of the McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour, Presented by Crowe MacKay, came to a conclusion this afternoon in Nanton, about 40 minutes south of Calgary.  Nanton is one of four remaining charter members of the Tour (Lacombe, Innisfail, Ponoka) dating back to our inaugural season in 1996.  While not the longest or most difficult site on the Tour, the course remains a terrific site for a junior golf tournament, featuring some fairly open holes combined with tough greens to navigate.  We had players on hand today from Camrose to Lethbridge and points in between as many of the competitors on site had yet to qualify for next Monday's Tour Championship at Wolf Creek Golf Resort.

Mason Kucy of Camrose made his trip south well worthwhile as he captured his second title of the season after being declared co-champion of his home town Junior Open in Camrose earlier this summer. Kucy fired a steady 3-over par 74 to pip Owen MacEachern and Justin Loro, clubmates at Country Hills, by a single shot. Arthur Deng of The Winston GC (formerly known as the Calgary Elks) was alone in fourth on 77.  It was the "Last Chance Saloon" today for players to earn spots in next Monday's Tour Championship at Wolf Creek and MacEachern did just that with his play today.  Also bagging spots at Wolf Creek were Rory Huycke of Wateron Lakes (79) from the flight for boys born in 2001/02, Braeden Petro of the Lethbridge CC (90) from the flight for boys born in 2003 and later, and Wild Card qualifiers Connor Dunlop and Korbin Allan, both of Strathmore and both with 79s.  Sam Kerr (82) of Henderson Lake also got a Wild Card spot, but he will be unable to attend next Monday's finale.

Chelsea Joseph didn't have any competition among junior girls today, but the Lethbridge CC youngster still fired a fine 83 on her own and will be someone to watch next week at Wolf Creek, in my opinion.

Today's tournament wraps up the 22nd season for the McLennan Ross Junior Tour, other than of course the Tour Championship. We will do a more lengthy Season In Review report after the Tour Championship, but just a reminder today to all the qualifiers who have not yet entered the Tour Championship, the entry deadline is NOON on Thursday, August 24th.

Q = Qualified for Tour Championship

WC = Wild Card Qualifier for Tour Championship

PQ = Player had previously qualified for Tour Championship.

The players listed here are those that finished in the Top Six and ties in each age group, thereby earning Srixon Order of Merit ranking points.  This is not a complete list of every competitor from today's event.  The final Srixon Order of Merit standings are now online and the four Order of Merit Wild Card Qualifiers have been identified tonight in a News Item on the Tour Home Page.

Code of Conduct

The McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour takes great pride in the quality of its competitors, its host facilities, and the support provided by our Corporate Partners. The efforts of the administrative staff and the volunteers that go into making the Tour so successful demand a very high standard of behavior and decorum from the competitors. We have therefore developed a formal Code of Coduct modeled on that of Alberta Golf that provides a set of guidelines for the young men and women that wish to compete in McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour events.
