The 2017 McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour season has now hit the halfway mark after today's Strathmore Junior Open.  After today, only ten events remain prior to the Tour Championship at Wolf Creek Golf Resort on August 28th.

Elias Theodossopoulos of the Glencoe kept his efforts to a minimum today in the scorching weather as the mercury hit 33C by the conclusion of play. His 1-over par 73 was a single shot clear of Richard Dou of Canyon Meadows, with the host club's Matt LInk in solo third on 75. Both Theodossoploulos and Dou earned their way into the field for the Tour Championship by virtue of their play today, and will be joined by Jaden McIntyre of Lethbridge CC, whos 77 topped the flight for boys born in 2003 and later.  Wild Card qualifiers today included Brendan Weiland (80) of Springbank Links and Josh Filipionek (81) of Strathmore. Chelsea Joseph of Lethbridge CC also qualified today as she was the only junior girl in the field, but she fired a fine 83 just the same.

Let's talk about the weather for a moment, kids.  When rain is in the forecast, most kids prepare properly with appropriate rain gear, umbrellas, towels and whatever they need to stay dry and warm.  It's every bit as important and maybe moreso to prepare properly for HOT weather, too.  As the temperature soared into the low 30s C today, I saw several kids dragging a bit as the heat took its toll.  Load up those bags with extra water.  Soak down a towel and put it over your head under your hat or around your neck to help keep your body as cool as possible.  Some kids today had their umbrellas up to shield themselves from the sun.  Great thinking!  As your body heats up, your brain doesn't function as effectively.  Make any silly double bogies late in your round today?   Use lots of sun block, wear light colored clothing and give yourselves the best chance to compete to the best of your ability.

Next event on the Tour schedule is the always popular Canmore Junior Open coming up on Monday, Julyu 31.  We called the club today, and were informed that while they were going to make up the draw this afternoon, they were going to hold open a handful of spots to fill out the draw, so if you want to play on Monday in Canmore, phone them first thing on Friday and hope they haven't filled up the entries yet!

Code of Conduct

The McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour takes great pride in the quality of its competitors, its host facilities, and the support provided by our Corporate Partners. The efforts of the administrative staff and the volunteers that go into making the Tour so successful demand a very high standard of behavior and decorum from the competitors. We have therefore developed a formal Code of Coduct modeled on that of Alberta Golf that provides a set of guidelines for the young men and women that wish to compete in McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour events.
