With an early afternoon thunderstorm on Saturday forcing cancellation of the first round of the Henderson Lake Junior Open, the kids took to the Lethbridge layout today for a weather-shortened 18 hole tournament. Juniors from as far away as Edmonton, Calgary and Medicine Hat enjoyed sunny skies and light breezes this afternoon, a far cry from the lightning and drenching downpour of Saturday afternoon.

Michael Grose, 18, of Connaught GC in Medicine Hat, made the weekend trip to Lethbridge well worth his while, firing a steady if unspectacular 77 to nip Sam Kerr of Lethbridge CC by a single shot. Christian Hansen of River's Edge GC in Okotoks fired a 79 to finish solo third and also capture the flight of players born in 2004 and later.  Kerr's 78 was tops among junior boys born in 2001/2002 and all three earned the season's first qualifying spots in the Tour Championship at Wolf Creek Golf Resort on August 27th.

They will be joined by Wild Card qualifiers Nate Heyburn of the host club, and Grose's clubmate from Connaught, Mathieu Chapdelaine, both on 81.

Chelsea Joseph of Lethbridge CC fired a sparkling 74 to easily win the junior girls division and also punch her ticket to Wolf Creek.

Next event on the Tour is on Thursday, June 28th in Barrhead, before the Tour really kicks into full gear in July and August.

Q = Player qualified for the Tour Championship at Wolf Creek GR on August 27.

WC = Wild Card qualfier for Tour Championship.

Code of Conduct

The McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour takes great pride in the quality of its competitors, its host facilities, and the support provided by our Corporate Partners. The efforts of the administrative staff and the volunteers that go into making the Tour so successful demand a very high standard of behavior and decorum from the competitors. We have therefore developed a formal Code of Coduct modeled on that of Alberta Golf that provides a set of guidelines for the young men and women that wish to compete in McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour events.
