Shown above is Broadmoor's Chase Bodoano (r) , who captured today's Innisfail Junior Open with a birdie on the first hole of a sudden-victory playoff over his good friend and clubmate Mitch Desjarlais.  More on that later!

Overcast skies, intermittent rain and a steady wind did not deter the juniors on hand today from Edmonton to Calgary and numerous points in between.  It never really rained hard, but it never really let up much either during the day, but the players slugged it out without complaint and full marks to the kids for doing so!  Bodoano and Desjarlais managed the tough conditions better than anyone and their matching scores of 78 sent them back out on the course for overtime.  We used the 460-yard par-5 uphill 9th hole on the Spruce 9 for the playoff and Bodoano blistered a big drive and a 188-yard 6-iron lasered to 12 feet below the hole!  When Desjarlais could only manage a routine par, Chase was able to cosy his approach putt up to tap-in distance for his first McLennan Ross Junior Tour win.  Christian Hansen of River'sEdge GC in Okotoks was a single shot back in solo third with a 79, which was good enough for Hansen to win his flight for boys born in 2004 and later.

Josh Robertson of River Ridge, Justin Schmidt of Broadmoor, and the host club's Anthony Chatwood tied for third on 82.  Qualifers for the August 27th Tour Championship at Wolf Creek included Bodoano, Robertson, Schmidt, Chatwood, and  Reid Casavant of Westlock.

The Tour really kicks into high gear next week with three events in three days in Calgary and Central Alberta.  Monday is the long-standing Kevin Hipple Memorial Junior Open at Pinebrook GCC in Calgary, followed by the Carstairs Junior Open on Tuesday, July 10th and the Olds Junior Open on Wednesday, July 11th.  Entries are open for all three events and we urge players to enter as soon as possible this week to help the local organizers plan more effectively for their tournaments.

Q = Player qualified for Tour Championship.

PQ = Player had previously qualified for Tour Championship.

WC = Wild Card qualifier for Tour Championship.

Code of Conduct

The McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour takes great pride in the quality of its competitors, its host facilities, and the support provided by our Corporate Partners. The efforts of the administrative staff and the volunteers that go into making the Tour so successful demand a very high standard of behavior and decorum from the competitors. We have therefore developed a formal Code of Coduct modeled on that of Alberta Golf that provides a set of guidelines for the young men and women that wish to compete in McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour events.
