After the disappointment of a rainout and postponement yesterday at Carstairs, warm sunny skies greeted a nice field of junior golfers from across Central Alberta this morning at the Olds Junior Open, today's McLennan Ross Tour stop.

Chase Broderson of Lacombe, who finished T13 last week in Sundre at the Alberta Golf Junior Boys Championship, continued on form today by firing a solid 1-over par 73, good for a 3-shot margin over Red Deer GCC clubmates Cole Bergheim and Logan Graf, tied for runner-up on 76.  Graf and Bergheim were among several players in today's field who had also competed at provincials last week about 40 km west of Olds in Sundre. All three players earned their way into the 2018 Tour Championship at Wolf Creek Golf Resort by virtue of their performances today.

Other Tour Championship qualifiers today included Wild Cards Tanner Smith of Riverbend GC in Red Deer, Innisfail's Joe Kelly and the Kucy brothers, Mason and Devin, from Camrose. Smith and Kelly's 83s and the Kucy's 84s snagged spots for Wolf Creek.

Five junior girls were on hand today, and the favorite going in had to be the host club's Sydney McInnis, and she didn't disappoint.  McInnis fired a 91, four shots clear of runner-up Brooklyn Campbell. McInnis also punched her ticket to Wolf Creek with her win today.

Next week, the Tour goes into overdrive with four events on four days in four different towns in the Edmonton area.

Monday we are in Drayton Valley, Tuesday at Whitetail Crossing in Mundare, Montgomery Glen in Wetaskiwin on Wednesday, and the fun and competition concludes next Thursday in Camrose.  Entries are open for all four events, so please don't miss these terrific junior golf opportunities.

Code of Conduct

The McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour takes great pride in the quality of its competitors, its host facilities, and the support provided by our Corporate Partners. The efforts of the administrative staff and the volunteers that go into making the Tour so successful demand a very high standard of behavior and decorum from the competitors. We have therefore developed a formal Code of Coduct modeled on that of Alberta Golf that provides a set of guidelines for the young men and women that wish to compete in McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour events.
